Police arrest man in Nottingham after seizing multiple bottles of liquid codeine

An 18-year-old man was arrested on Sunday by police in Nottingham on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply Class B drugs after they found bottles of liquid codeine in his car.

Officers patrolling Top Valley in the north-west of the city in the early hours of Sunday morning pulled over a car that was being driven without its lights on.

Nottinghamshire Police said officers carried out a search of the vehicle having “believed something untoward could be on board” and found “multiple bottles – two-dozens’ worth” of liquid codeine.

Officers also found quantities of cash and multiple phones during the search and arrested the driver.

On the same day later that afternoon, a 24-year-old man in Bestwood was arrested on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply Class B drugs.

Nottinghamshire Police said officers “spotted a suspicious encounter between a pedestrian and an electric bike rider” and as they approached the pair, the individual ran off, only to be detained in nearby gardens.

“Multiple deal bags containing Class B drugs were quickly found and seized, with officers finding a burner-style phone in the vicinity too,” Nottinghamshire Police said.

Inspector Paul Ferguson, neighbourhood inspector for the City North, said: “Tackling drugs supply has been a longstanding priority for our area, so these two discoveries were very much welcomed.

“Both arrests were made on the same day while our officers were out on patrol, with quantities of liquid codeine and then cannabis found and seized.

“Whether it’s Class A, B or C drugs, we as a policing team will not tolerate any drug dealing in our communities and will always look to take action, when we have any suspicions.”
